Students to play vital role in disaster management

Udhampur Jan 24- To educate the students about the disaster management, Civil Defence Organization, Udhampur organized an awareness programme in the premises of Kallra College in here today. Senior Superintendent of Police Surinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.
Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Udhampur, Bodh Raj, Chief Warden Civil Defence, Advocate Surinder Khajuria, Deputy Chief Warden, Defence wardens, volunteers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
The participants were made aware about the safe driving, demerits of fast driving, use of parking zones and zebra crossing, traffic signals and other traffic rules to be observed during driving. Various safety measures to be adopted during any man made or natural disasters were also briefed on the occasion. To educate the participants, the experts of civil defence also gave a practical demonstration related to rescue operation in case of any calamity.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of Civil Defence organization, in spreading greater awareness among the students and staff of the institution on various issues. The SSP said that student could play a vital role in spreading the massive awareness about the disaster management He said that holding of awareness programs especially in educational institutions like B. Ed colleges by the civil defence would go a long way in educating the public about the disaster management through the active participation of student community. He assured full cooperation to the civil defence from district police side.
Appreciating roll of civil defence, the chairman of the college said that organization is putting up its serious efforts in both urban and rural areas of the district for generating mass awareness about the disasters and their managements.
Deputy Controller gave the resume of various activities being carried out by the Civil Defence Organization in the district.
