| 17-day long SaMaPa Aalap Festival concludes | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 24: The 17-days long SaMaPa Aalap Festival- 2010, the premium music festival of Jammu and Kashmir, concluded here today with divine music by Abhay Rustum Sopori and Ragini Rainu. The concluding programs witnessed special concerts at two border areas at R.S. Pora and Rajouri, another concert organized by J&K Tourism at JKTDC and finally with a divine touch at Namdhari Gurudwara. The concluding functions featured Santoor recital by Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Abhay, and soulful Sufi renditions by Ragini Rainu, Mithilesh Jha and Sarit Das, Ustad Sajjad Ahmed, senior Harmonium player from Delhi. SaMaPa Aalap- 2010 was highly commended by everyone for creating a new wave in the field of art and culture and special concerts organized for the first time for Prison inmates, Media personalities and journalists of J&K, people living in Border areas, etc. It was for the first time the students and general public of border areas witnessed programs like this. The concluding performance of the festival mesmerized the audiences. Earlier, numerous children presented brief recitals receiving immense appreciation. During the concluding presentation Abhay expressed his gratitude to the Tourism Department and State Cultural Academy for their collaboration. He also thanked the Department of Information for its support and all the institutions who participated in the festival to make the festival a grand success. This year the Aalap festival featured around 25 presentation spread over 17 days. He specially thanked DG Prisons Dr. Ashok Bhan for coming forward in making a history along with him with the first ever effort to soothe the nerves of the Jail prisoners with his concert. Abhay also thanked the entire media fraternity, both print and electronic, for supporting him in taking the festival to millions across the world and making SaMaPa Aalap a referential festival of India.
