| Raise income tax exemption limit: NMC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 24 : National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed the Union Minister for Finance Pranab Mukherjee to raise the income tax exemption limit up to Rs 3 lakh in the ensuing Budget in view of steep rise in the prices of essential commodities. Addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally today, Subash Shastri, president NMC said that with price rise and inflation every salaried class is facing lot of economic hardships, adding that raising income tax exemption limit from Rs 1.60 lakh to Rs 3 lakh would be genuine measures to provide some relief to them. He, however, appreciated the Chief Minister for taking keen interest in addressing the demands of salaried class and urged him for resolving other demands at the earliest. He said the implementation of the report has developed a good rapport between the Government and the employees. He also appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene personally and ensure that all the anomalies in the SRO-93 are removed. On the occasion, NMC leaders highlighted the various demands of the employees.
