| Environment deptt. organizes poster making, essay competition | | |

Jammu, Jan 25: Poster making, essay competition and symposium was held on ‘Bio-diversity and climate change’ at government SPMR college of commerce by the directorate of environment and remote sensing here today. Principal of the college Dr. Hemla Agarwal presided over the function, while prof. Uma Sharma president Gitanjali Yog Samiti was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion RC Sharma of the department highlighted various posed by climatic changes taking places due to irrational attitude of the modern human beings. He suggested the judicious use of natural resources to ensure sustainable development. Dr Hemla Aggarwal exhorted the participants to educate the masses about the ill effects of the climatic changes.
First prize in symposium was bagged by Zain-ab-din second and third prizes were won by Huma Khan and Tanvi Bhargav whereas first and second consolation prizes were given to Akriti Shamra and Komal JB Singh.
Sapna Charak, Akriti Sharma and Renuka Sharma got first, second and third prizes in essay competition respectively and first prizes in poster making was won by Naresh Malhotra whereas second was shared by Nitin Gupta Urvashi Aggarwal and third prizes was shared by Neha Singh and Padma Lanzom. Two consultation prizes were also given to Ritika Pathania and Ruchi Chowdhary.
Prof. Kamal Kishore Verma of the department of environmental sciences and Prof. Rajni Sharma of economic department of the college were appreciated by the principal for their meticulous conduct of the programme.
