| BGSBU inks ‘Federal Arrangement’ with Italy’s Physics centre | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 25 With fillip in its research activity and launching of Ph. D programme, School of Mathematical Sciences & Engineering, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University has taken a big lead forward by entering into “Federation Arrangement” with the world famous Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics. Describing it a welcome initiative of the Computer Sciences Department, Masud A Chaudhary Vice Chancellor of the varsity expressed appreciation of the efforts being put in by Professor M Asgher, the founding Head of the Department, who would be the co-coordinator of the Federal Arrangement. As per the press statement issued here, the arrangement would establish frequent and regular contact between scientists of BGSBU and Italy based institution for furthering their scientific pursuits. The University faculty would have the opportunity to undertake joint research in such areas as Applied Mathematics, Experimental Physics and Theoretical Physics and the collaboration would particularly encourage younger members of the faculty by providing them opportunity to rub shoulders with the peers in the subject. In the first instance the scientists from either Institute can work in Italy and India for a period of five months. The exposure would help young teachers to pickup new techniques and update themselves with latest developments in the subject. The Department of Computer Sciences has forged similar ties with various other international and national organizations.
