Court rejects Post Master’s bail application

Jammu, Jan 25- Judicial Magistrate Akhnoor Khem Raj Sharma today rejected the bail application of Bishan Dass resident of Bhori Teryai Tehsil Akhnoor, who was arrested by the police u/s 409 RPC.
After hearing Advocate PR Gupta appearing for the accused and Prosecuting Officer Anshuman Dubey appearing for the state, the CJM observed that accused Post-Master has dishonestly misappropriated the hard earned money of poor people who have been reposing faith in the Post offices. He further observed that the accused is not entitled to discretionary relief of bail accordingly dismissed the bail application.
According to the Prosecuting officer Anshuman Dubey that case against the accused was that while he was functioning as Post Master at Rakh Dhok Akhnoor had misappropriated Rs 77500 deposited by the people of the area in the post-office. After the investigation of the case police arrested the said post master on January 20, 2010 and a case u/s 409 RPC was registered against the accused and investigation taken up.
