| CD volunteers on high alert in Gujjar Nagar | | Assisting security forces to prevent militant strike | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 25- Mohammed Abdullah Qureshi a law students of Jammu University, was on his feet for most part of the day on Monday checking vehicles and assisting state police jawans to ensure fool proof security arrangements on the eve of Republic Day celebrations in Jammu. Abdullah was no exception. He along with 12 other volunteers of Civil Defence were out on the Tawi bridge near Gujjar Nagar since Monday afternoon trying to help out jawans of state police and para- military force to maintain tight vigil in and around their area in order to prevent any militant strike. For last couple of days, the entire Jammu city and its adjoining areas have been put on high alert by the security forces following major infiltration bid by infiltrators from across the border. Though BSF authorities had claimed to have foiled the infiltration bid yet other security forces, including state police force, was not ready to take any chance and were maintaining a tight cordon en-route all roads connecting Jammu with border areas. Arshad Khan, Mohammed Omar, studying B Tech and Law were also checking the all incoming vehicles on the Tawi Bridge along with their friends Natwar Singh and Vinod Katoch. Civil defence warden Gujjar Nagar post MA Qureshi, who was also present on the spot, said that a group of Hindus and Muslims living in Gujjar Nagar area have come forward to assist state police force to ensure fool proof security arrangements to thwart any militant strike on the eve of Republic Day.
