| Met Trade India Union workers threaten hunger strike | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Jan 25- Coming to the rescue of protesting workers of Met Trade India Industries Ltd, the Additional Deputy Commissioner M Raju today directed Assistant Labour Commissioner to look into the problems of the workers and submit his report within 10 days. This direction was passed by the ADC when the workers called on him here today and submitted a memorandum listing demands. The workers who held a protest demonstration in support of their demands alleged that the management was deliberately violating the agreement reached with the workers. The Union President Joginder accused the management for harassing the innocent labour and befooling the district administration by taking aback of its commitment during a negotiation meet which was chaired by the Assistant commissioner Revenue Kathua on January 12. However, the General Manager of Met Trade India Ltd. Anil Jain said that the management has accepted all the demands of the workers and at present 170 workers are allowed to come on their duties as per the negotiations adding that the management has further asked the contractors to depute 74 workers as per the requirement the factory. He threatened to close down the unit if the workers continued to blackmail the management and maintained that workers were being paid wages as per SRO 304. However, the union warned the management of launching a chain hunger strike if their demands were not met at the earliest.
