| NKorea nuke test shows dangers of clandestine proliferation | | |
New Delhi, Oct 9 Deploring the nuclear test conducted by North Korea, India today said it highlighted the "dangers of clandestine proliferation." "It is unfortunate that Democratic People's Republic of North Korea (DPRK) has conducted such a test in volation of of its international commitments, jeopardising peace, stability and security on the Korean peninsula and in the region," External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Navtej Sarna said. Expressing concern at the test, he said it "highlights the dangers of clandestine proliferation." Pakistan's disgraced scientist A Q Khan, who led a clandestine proliferation network, had confessed to have helped North Korea's nuclear programme. President Pervez Musharraf in his memoirs published last month had said that Khan had transferred nearly two dozen centrifuges to North Korea.
Sarna said that India was monitoring the situation and was in close touch with several countries on the development. PTI
