| Mega cultural event sets tone for R-Day celebrations | | DyCM, Ministers, others witness bonanza hosted by Info Deptt | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan, 25: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today exhorted people to redouble efforts for building a more prosperous and strong India as envisioned by the freedom fighters by facing the challenges of modern times with courage and fortitude. The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function, organized by the Department of Information and Public Relations in observance of the Republic Day celebrations at Abhinav theater here this evening. Minister for R&B, Mr G M Saroori, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Mubarak Gul, senior officers of Information Department, including Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Ahmed Renzu were present on the occasion. Tara Chand recalled the contribution made by the people of India, especially scientists, technocrats, professional, skilled and unskilled workforce etc in different sectors during the past over six decades which has enabled ‘us to become world leaders in various affairs, especially in human resource. Listing the achievements the country has registered on the development front, Mr Tara Chand said that the by making progress in every sector, it has won the recognition as one of the powerful democratic country of the world. “This momentum has to be maintained”, he added. Asserting that people of the country are strong enough to face every challenge for upholding the dignity of the country, Mr Tara Chand said that the past six decades stands testimony that the y have exhibited unprecedented courage and fortitude even in difficult times.
Crediting the people for the emerging peace in the state, Mr Tara Chand said that Jammu and Kashmir was marching fast on the path of development and normalcy.
Giving a resume of the achievements made on the development front, he hailed the UPA Government for providing liberal funding to the state. He hoped that during the next six years , state would progress in leaps and bounds , under the dynamic leadership of young Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah .
The Deputy Chief Minister praised information department for its extraordinary contribution in disseminating information about the graet leaders who have given supreme sacrifices during freedom struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Saroori reiterated the commitment of the Government for over all development of the State., He said massive development activities are all set to change the socio-economic profile of the state. He said every nook and corner of the state is being connected with the nearest urban centre, adding that upgraded road connectivity in the state has greatly helped in promoting inter and intra state trade and commerce.
Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Mubarak Gul also highlighted the achievements of the Government and hoped that lasting peace would be soon restored in the state.
Earlier, Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Renzu welcomed the dignitaries and briefed them about the activities of the department.
A scintillating cultural programme, depicting ethos of the three regions of the state, with special reference to the cultural diversity and communal harmony was presented on the occasion by reputed artists and school children. The special programme on the life of Madr-e-Mehrban, Begum Akbar Jehan was also presented on the occasion by the students, which was hailed and liked by the jam-packed auditorium.
On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Gul and the Director Information presented awards to the talented participants.
