Jammu, Jan 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Government today announced the State Awards on the Republic Day 2010 for bravery, literature, performing arts, arts and crafts, social service, meritorious public service, outstanding sports persons and media persons, exemplary industrial entrepreneurship and excellence in media. The awards carry medals, citations and cash awards.
As per an official communiqué, the following is the list of awardees in different spheres:
BRAVERY
Rukhsana Kosser and Mr Ajaz Ahmed. (Cash award of Rs 51,000 a medal and a citation each).
LITERATURE
Prof Rehman Rahi, Kashmiri poet and writer, Prof Sewa Singh, Punjabi writer and Prof Veena Gupta (Dogri writer). (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a shawl worth Rs 10,000 and a citation each.
ARTS
Shameem Azad, (Singer), Kailash Mehra (Singer), Pradhuman Singh Jindrahia (Dogri folk artist) and Ustad Ghulam Mohammad Saznawaz (Sufiana Ustad).(Cash award of Rs 51,000 a medal and a citation each).
ARTS AND CRAFTS
Mohammad Shariq Farooqui, Director, Craft Development Institute, Srinagar (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation).
SOCIAL SERVICE
Viklang Chhatra Trust, Akhnoor (Cash award of Rs 51,000, a medal and a citation.)
PUBLIC SERVICE
B.R. Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Power Development Department; Basharat Ahmad Dhar, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, General Administration Department; Mr. Nisar Ahmad Shah, Junior Engineer, Rajpora Lift Irrigation Scheme, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and Mr. Ishtaq Ahmad Khan, Naib Tehsildar (Settlement), Revenue Department.
