| J&K Bank loses final of Airtel Gold Cup | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, January 26: State’s only professional side of Jammu and Kashmir Bank lost in the final of All India Airtel Gold Cup football tournament to Sikh Regiment in tiebreaker at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Went into the game with morale high owing to their performance in the quarterfinal and semi-final, Bank could not cross the final hurdle and lost the match 3-4. According to the reports reaching here, Bank took the first lead when Ibrahim struck in the 15th minute. After that Bank got a number of chances but could not able to convert. At the end of first half, Bank was leading 1-0. Later, in the second half, Sikh Regiment looked a totally different side and started to play an aggressive game. Though Bank was able to stop most of the attacks; one small mistake cost them dearly. Sikh Regiment brought an equaliser in 70th minute leveling the score 1-1. After that no goal was scored and the match went into tiebreaker wherein J&K Bank lost 3-4. Earlier, in the semi-finals, J&K Ban trounced Ranbir Club 5-1 to enter the final. To make it to the semifinals, Bank blanked Union Bank Mumbai 3-0.
