| Govt to extend helping hand to units set up under SES | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 27: Following weak response to the self-employment schemes the National Conference led coalition government is contemplating to adopt a proactive approach for creating service related units falling under Self-Employment Schemes (SESs). Official sources today said that to begin with the Government would give financial support and other assistance to the educated unemployed youth would set up units, under self-employment schemes. The service units promoted by technically trained and qualified youth can be recognised to provide such services to Government departments on charge per visit basis, actual cost of replaced parts plus wages at notified rates. Sources said that once these units gained experience and manufactured quality products private sector companies and firms besides general public will also utilise their services. According to these sources the technical services of trained youths can be utilised under the National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme also. As per official records 350 persons were engaged as supporting staff to work as computer operators, accounts assistants, technical assistants, rozgar sevikas and block level programme officers during 2009. Since th Government has decided to increase the person-days of employment to five crores it was expected to generate potential for absorbing about 3,000 persons in such jobs, sources said. They added it has also been decided that the proposed Employment Facilitating Agency shall facilitate setting up of polyclinics and consultancies by unemployed and retired doctors and engineers. In case there was need the package of assistance and loans could be modified to meet specific requirements of such polyclinics and consultancies, sources said.
