| Rs 80 lakhs project underway for Greater Jammu facelift: Bhalla | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 27: The Government has approved Rs 80 lakh for improvement of lanes and drains of Greater Jammu localities, including Matto colony, K C Colony, Greater Jammu, Sainik Colony and Menia Mohalla.
Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla said this after laying foundation stone of a culvert at Greater Jammu near JK Plaza, coming up at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh, here today.
Chairman Health and Sanitation Mr. Satesh Sharma, Corporator, Sainik Colony, Mr. Jai Singh and engineers of PHE and R&B accompanied the Minister.
Interacting with the locals, Mr. Bhalla said that with the completion of culvert, the distance between Trikuta Nagar-Channi Himmat would be considerably reduced. He asked the executing agency to complete the construction work on the Culvert by March 2010 by using quality material. He said that there would be no compromise on the quality of work.
Giving a resume of developmental activities in the area, the Minister said that the PHE department has spent Rs. 15 crore for construction of tube wells, including laying of pipes to augment potable water supply in K C Colony, Bandhu Rakh, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar in Sector 5. He said that Government has also approved Rs. 15 lakh for laying of pipes in left out areas of the Greater Jammu. He asked the PHE department to immediately start the work so that the people do not face any inconvenience.
Bhalla further said that the Government has approved Rs. 80 lakh for renovation and repair of lanes and drains of Matto colony, K C Colony, Greater Jammu, Sainik Colony and Menia Mohalla. He asked the people to cooperate with executing agencies to ensure early completion of the ongoing construction works in their respective areas.
At Matto Colony and Gandhi Nagar Dushera Ground, the construction work on construction of slab, at a cost of Rs. 28 lakh, over a Nallah and deep drain works were also started in the presence of the Minister.
