| Vyas expresses displeasure over slow pace of progress on road projects | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 27: To review progress on various road projects being executed by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) in Doda district, B.B. Vyas Chief Executive Officer ERA, accompanied by M.M. Gupta Director-Transport ERA, today visited Drabshala-Bimalnag Road, Doda -Bharat Road and Bani -Daggar Road. Expressing his disappointment over slow pace of progress on Bani-Dhagger road, the CEO directed concerned officers, supervisory and management consultants to look for alternative arrangement in case of the failure of the contractor to complete the work. He exhorted upon the officers to expedite work to ensure early completion of various projects under execution. He also took detailed meeting with district administration on various bottlenecks, including the pending cases of land acquisition, on which CEO ERA was assured that all land acquisition cases will be finalized by the end of February, 2010. He also inspected Doda-Bharat Road being constructed at a cost of Rs. 22.45 crores and had a detailed site inspection and post construction quality control tests which were conducted by the team of experts accompanying the CEO. He directed the contractor to accelerate the pace of work. Deputy Commissioner Doda informed that the process of land acquisition is in the final stage. CEO directed Director Transport to place the required funds at the disposal of Deputy Commissioner so that land is handed over to ERA. Besides, on spot inspection, the CEO also took detailed review of various projects in Jammu and exhorted upon all the concerned officers to take proactive action so that these projects are completed within the targeted time. Project Manager Transport and other senior officers of ERA, DSC and PMC also accompanied CEO during his visit.
