| Judaian – Jatinder Udhampuri’s new poetic collection released | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 27: Chairman Kashmir Times Group, Ved Bhasin released “Judaian” a Sufi poetic collection of noted poet, litterateur and Padma Shree awardee Jitender Udhampuri’s at KL Saigal on Wednesday. The book contains a rare collection of Udhampuri’s latest Sufi poetry. Interestingly, Udhampuri is a noted poet, writer and litterateur and has been awarded the prestigious Padma Shree Award. Earlier, he was conferred upon the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award. A celebrated writer, poet, Udhampuri has so far written more than twenty books on different subjects. During today’s function Prof. Veena Gupta was the chief guest while Chairman Kashmir Times Group, Ved Bhasin presided over the function. Prominent poet Arsh Sehbai and noted educationist Prof. Ved Ghai participated as special guests. Earlier, in her welcome address, Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Savita Bakshi lauded the services of Jitendra Udhampuri as a poet, writer and litterateur of note. Appreciating Udhampuri’s contribution to Dogri and Hindi, she said that the poet, writer rightly deserved the honors that have been conferred upon him so far. About Academy’s role, Bakshi said that the Cultural Academy would continue to support people like Udhampuri who had done proud to the people of Jammu. As a mark of respect mementos and shawls were presented to Veena Gupta and Jitender Udhampuri for having been awarded State Award and Padma Shree respectively. Later a singing programme was also conducted for the entertainment of the audience. The songs, three in number, were from Udhampuri’s own poetic collection and were sung by Vishal Gupta, Chanchal Sharma and Indu Bala in individual capacities. For audiences’ interest Jintender Udhampuri also recited some verses from his poetic collection “Judaian”. The music composition for the songs was taken care of by Editor Dogri, Brij Mohan while Sunil Sharma and his namesake played synthesizer and flute respectively. Joginder Paul played tabla for the singing session. As part of the programme Bansi Sharma read a paper on Udhampuri’s latest poetic collection “Judaian”. The programme proceedings were conducted by Dr. R. L. Basotra while Editor Dogri, Brij Mohan presented the vote of thanks.
