| Republic Day celebrated with zeal | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 27 More reports regarding celebrations of 61st Republic Day of the nation continued to pour on second consecutive day across Jammu province here today. On the occasion of 61st Republic Day, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) organized a function at border town of Arnia. State President NCP Thakur Randhir Singh unfurled the tricolour in the presence of a large number of party activists. After flag hoisting NCP president and other leaders also addressed the gathering. Jammu Bachao Andolan (JBA) celebrated Republic Day at Manda and extended warm greetings to its members and people of Jammu. Convenor JBA, Wing Commander (Retd) GL Sharma hoisted the national flag. Among others who attended the flag hoisting ceremony included MS Jamwal, DS Jamwal. Dr Satish Sharma, JS Baloria, Ved Paul Sharma, Vipin Sharma and Advocate Ashok Sharma. National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) in collaboration with the traders of Mahalaxmi Temple Pacca Danga celebrated the Republic Day as ‘Sankalap Diwas’. To mark the day, a colourful function was held at Pacca Danga Chowk wherein a large number of people belonging to different communities participated. NMC Chief Subash Shastri, who was chief guest on the occasion, unfurled the tricolour. Speaking on the occasion, Shastri highlighted the significance of the day and our duties towards the nation. Republic Day was also celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety by Dudhadhari Chowk Shopkeepers’ Association. In this connection a function was organized at Pawan Chowk, Shastri Nagar wherein the national flag was unfurled by president of the association Pawan Gupta along with other office bearers. Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu celebrated 61st Republic Day with great patriotic fervour and gaiety. Besides, hoisting triclour, various cultural items were presented by the students on this occasion. Chief Guest Gambhir Dev Singh Charak unfurled the national flag and addressed the students. In his address, he exhorted upon the students to work hard for achieving the goal of education. The management of A.S.N.Hr.Sec.School, Channi Himmat, Jammu today celebrated "Republic Day" inside the school premises. Administrator of the School Ritesh Kapoor was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The function started with the hoisting of the "Tri-Color" followed by National Anthem. After wards a beautiful March-Pass was presented by the school petrol which was highly appreciated by the audience. Shiv Charan Dass, Vice-Principal of the school during his welcome address highlighted the importance of the celebration of such days and briefed that these auspicious days are to be celebrated with full honor and dignity not for the sake of celebration only but by taking pledge on this day to work for the society as well as the Nation at large. Various students those spoke on the occasion and have their views During the programme Medals and Participation Prizes were also distributed amongst the meritorious students those have excelled in curricular and extra-curricular activities. Ritesh Kapoor during his address congratulated the students for presenting such a colorful function. He added that this school has grown from root to bottom and have attained all the rich values required to be inculcated in the youth. He highlighted the responsibility of the Youth in the progress of the Nation and also stresses upon to celebrate these days with respect & zeal. To celebrate the 61st republic day, Jammu and Kashmir Chirstian association (JKCA) and National Conference (NC) jointly organized a public day. The rally which started from association’s head office at Residency Road, culminated at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, the NC headquarter, to participate in the flag hoisting ceremony. On the occasion, provisional president NC, Rattan Lal Gupta unfurled the national flag. On their way back, the members of JKCA attended another flag hoisting ceremony at Residency Road. This function was organized by Waris Gill, President, JKCA. The tri colour was unfurled jointly by Rattan Lal Gupta, who was chief guest in the function, and Waris Gill. Others who attended the republic day function included former MLC SM Gill, Pardeep Wali, Ayub Malik, Surinder Bunty, Sham Mehra, Feastus Sotra, Hamid Gill, Star Gill and Som Masih.
