| Sagar orderes probe into Pulwama killing | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 27: Law and Parliamentary minister, Ali Muhammad Sager today ordered a probe into killing of Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Qalampora, Pulwama. The youth, according to locals, was used as a human shield by the soldiers during an encounter with the militants last week. However, the police say the youth was killed in an exchange of fire between the militants and the soldiers. Sagar while assuring a speedy and impartial probe said the culprits shall be brought to justice. He also urged the concerned deputy commissioner to release compensation in favour of the bereaved family. “The police and the security forces must exercise restraint during anti-militancy operations to avoid inconvenience to civilians”, he said. The killing has evoked wide spread condemnation from all quarters. The chairperson of Awami National Conference, Khalida Shah sent a delegation to Pulwama today to participate in the Rasam-e-Qul (last rites) of the slain youth. The JKLF chairman, Malik Muhammad Yasin led a delegation to Pulwama today. In his speech, Malik strongly condemned the killing. The Bar Association, both factions of the Hurriyat Conference and their constituents have condemned the killing. Member Parliament, Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri condoled the demise and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family. “I will take up the matter with the concerned and fight for justice”, he assured the bereaved family. Senior National Conference leader Sharief-ud-Din Shariq also expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
