Sikhs felicitate Shamsheer on his election as BJP Chief
1/28/2010 11:28:45 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 28- A Sikh delegation led by Amrik Singh today called on state BJP President Shamsher Singh Manhas to greet him on being elected as party president . The delegation also apprised him of the problems being faced by the migrated Sikh community in the state.

Amrik Singh pointed out that for the past 61years neither any step has been taken for their rehabilitation nor has any claim been registered for the movable and immovable properties left by them in PoK. He regretted that the members of such families are living in unhygienic conditions in slums and bastis and their two generations have perished while leading such lives.

While expressing full sympathies with these refugees, Manhas said the BJP has been repeatedly raising the demands of refugees from PoK, West Pakistan and those of 1965 and 1971. He criticized the successive governments in the state for giving step-motherly treatment to the refugees. He asked the government to treat the refugees as the human beings and redress their long pending grievances without wasting any more time. He, on this occasion, said that the latest developments in the state are not healthy signs and the people should get united to oppose Justice Sagheer Ahmed report, which has been prepared as per the wishes of a particular political party and ignored the view point of other nationalist parties and organizations. He further said that immediate Delimitation and abrogation of Article 370 is must to ensure end of discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh and state’s full integration with the rest of the country and BJP is committed to it.

S. Mian Singh, Karanjit Singh, Sujan Singh, Avtar Singh, Khajan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Gian Singh and Netar Singh were prominent among those who greeted Manhas in presence of party leaders Ramesh Arora and Vikram Randhawa.
