Ending suspense over joining of Wajahat Habibullah as Chief Information Commissioner in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today assured that the first head of transparency watchdog will soon assume his office.
Omar said that the DVO conference that he has taken up with the Central Government the issue for relieving of Wajahat Habibullah, so that he is able to takeover as Chief Information Commissioner very soon. However, in the meantime, two Commissioners are being appointed for the Commission. He said that under Right to Information Act, general people will be able to get information of all affairs of the State and shall ensure full transparency and Accountability.
Omar said that whenever special campaign against corruption is launched it is being pointed out that in sequel to this campaign execution of work gets affected but I strongly believe to stop corruption rather than to get works executed by corrupt elements. He said that Government has succeeded to get huge funds from the Centre, not for pilferage of the funds by corrupt elements. He said that he will ensure that each single penny of the money is spent with full honesty, even if adoption of honest codal procedure takes its own time.
