| CRPF to be deployed in hilly districts, single escort to VIPs | | | Early Times report Jammu, Jan 28 To cope up with the shortage of the man power, the state government has contemplated to curtail the security cover of politicians and other dignitaries soon. A senior police on the condition of anonymity said that the decision is taken in a high level meeting with the senior police officers some days ago and for its implementation an order in this regard has been circulated and the Senior Superintendent of Police of the concerned districts have been asked to adhere with it in letter and spirit . The decision in this regard has been taken following by proposal of the removal of Army in the hilly districts of the state. Demilitarization has always remained in the agenda of the PDP while as normalcy in the state is stated to be the other reason behind the step. Police officer further said that Army would be removed from Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and some parts of Jammu and in place CRPF and JKP would be deployed even 18 companies of Central Reserve Police Force would be deployed as Road of Opening Party from Patnitop to Nandani Tunnel. In order to cope up with the shortage of cops the genuine grievance of the police was placed on the table of Chief Minister. In the meeting, he said, decision has been taken to reduce the double escorts of politicians to single besides other security to other dignitaries would also be abolished and those who have genuine problems would be given one to two men security. The decision is not applicable to the politicians only but even the police officers have to contribute in this regard.
