| Guv, CM greet people on Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 29: The Governor, NN Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti.
In a message, the Governor described Guru Ji as a great social reformer whose teachings of peace, harmony, love and compassion have influenced millions of people and continue to inspire successive generations to work for a harmonious society based on equality and social justice. He said that Guru Ji tirelessly strived to ameliorate the lot of the people, especially the downtrodden and under-privileged sections of the society.
The Governor expressed the hope that the people will celebrate such occasions in the true spirit of our composite culture and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
In a felicitation message issued here today, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that Guru Ji taught and preached the high values of humanism and urged the people to always think and work keeping this philosophy in mind. He said the occasion reminds us of our duty towards poor people and calls for strengthening the secular ethos of Jammu and Kashmir. Omar prayed for the peace and prosperity of the state and wellbeing of its people.
