| Extension lecture on women empowerment held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 29- To generate awareness among the budding youth especially the girl students an Extension Lecture on various schemes of J&K State Women Commission for Empowerment of Women was organized at MIER College here today. The program was organized by Shanti Gupta Centre for Women Studies of the college.
Hafiza Muzaffar, Secretary, State Women Commission in her address said that women empowerment is a wider term and is an active process enabling women to realize their full identity and power in all spheres of life. The story of a woman from a helping hand in the kitchen to the heights of success is the story of grit, determination and perseverance. She highlighted various schemes of J&K State Women Commission for the empowerment of women. She talked of schemes where grants are available for post graduate students who want to take up some entrepreneurship programs. She also informed about organizing some programs like mock women parliament, Nukkad plays and surveys and research projects on women issues in collaboration with CWS, MIER. Her deliberations were followed by lively interaction with the girl students of the college.
In her presidential remarks Dr. Renu Gupta, Director Centre for Women’s Studies praised Hafiza who has single handedly run the State Women Commission and done commendable job of really helping the needy women of the State to get the rightful place in their homes and society and encourage them to fight for their rights. Appreciating Hafiza Muzzaffar for her positive role, Renu Gupta termed her as a role model for all women to emulate.
