| BSP Gen Sec joins PDP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 29- President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti today reiterated to make her party a voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as the ruling coalition has miserable failed to come up to the expectations of the common masses.
Addressing a function to welcome Choudhary Hussain Ali Bafwa in the party, PDP chief pointed out that National Conference led coalition regime has betrayed people of the State by ignoring wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society.
Bafwa, general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) along with hundreds of his supporters today joined PDP and expressed full faith in the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti. A prominent leader of Jammu region, Bafwa had contested Lok Sabha elections as BSP candidate from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat.
Terming the state government as total failure on all fronts, she said that the coalition has been functioning without programs and policies. “Just to enjoy the power National Conference and Congress entered into an alliance without forming Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and without evolving consensus on vital issues”, she said.
She asserted that with the mandate of the people his party will emerge as secular alternative to the National Conference-Congress alliance in the State and added that only PDP can fill the political vacuum created after formation of new coalition in the State. “There is political vacuum after formation of NC-Congress alliance “, she pointed out and expressed satisfaction that her party has already filled this vacuum and emerged as voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We will not allow people of the state to feel helpless after NC-Congress entered into alliance and our party would play role of effective opposition in the State”, she said and exhorted the PDP workers to aggressively take up the issues concerning the common masses at all platforms for addressing these problems.
PDP chief warned National Conference-Congress against repeating blunder of 1987 when assembly elections were brazenly rigged and democratic institutions were subverted by the same alliance to grab the power.
PDP chief further said that law and order machinery has totally collapsed in the state due to non serious attitude of the coalition and pointed out that on the one hand killings of innocent persons are continuing unabated while on the other crime graph has increased alarmingly.
Party vice president Trilok Singh Bajwa, general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh, Sayed Asgar Ali,Daman Bhasin, Ved Mahajan, Shanti Devi, Falail Singh, youth wing president Bashir Asad, Abdul Rashid Malik, Surjeet Kour and others addressed the gathering.
Along with Hussain Ali, other prominent leaders who joined PDP included Parveez Khan, Mohammad Sadiq, Bashir Ahmed, Roshan Din, Balbir Singh, Avtar Singh, Yakoob Khan, Salim Khan and Puran Chand.
