Academy releases research oriented books at Leh

Jammu, Jan 29- Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a book release function at conference hall, Leh in which Chering Dorje, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh was the chief guest.

Secretary Cultural Academy Zaffar Iqbal Manhas was the guest of honour.

On the occasion three exclusive publications were released. The books released during the function included “The Message and Teachings of the Prophet Mohammed”, “Autobiography of Lama Tsuitrim Nyima” and “Sheeraza Ladakhi”.

Speaking on the occasion CEC congratulated the Cultural Academy on bringing out such research oriented books on Ladakhi art and culture.

He described the book releases as a historic event and assured that the State Cultural Academy would get every possible help from the LAHDC in so far as promotion and development of culture and languages in Leh was concerned.

Earlier, addressing the gathering, Manhas expressed his gratitude to the Ladakhi scholars, and writers for their cooperation and collective efforts in ensuring timely publication of all the three books.

He thanked the Ladakhi intellectuals, writers and scholars for their contribution to the publication of an exclusive and historic book on the “message and teachings of the holy prophet”.

During his address Zafar also announced that during summer the Cultural Academy would hold a National Painting Exhibition at Leh.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Jamyang Gayltson, Molvi Mohamed Omar Nadvi, Ge. Konchok Phandey, Sheikh Mohamed Javed, Padma Shree Murup Namgail, and Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Tsewang Dolma.

Earlier in his welcome address the Chief Editor, Cultural Academy, Leh, Nawang Tsering briefed the audience about the activities of the Academy and said that during the past three decades the organization has published some 300 books in Ladakhi.
