Jammu Jan30: Unprecedented gathering today assembled at Guru Ravi Dass Ji temple, Krishna Nagar to pay obeisance on his 633rd Birth anniversary. Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand was among lakhs of devotees who attended the celebrations.
While addressing the gathering, Tara Chand called upon people to follow the teachings of saints, sages and Sufis and said that they preach lessons of love, amity and communal harmony. Extending greetings to the people on the occasion, Tara Chand said that saints and sages teaches love, mutual brotherhood and communal harmony adding that Guru Ji was one among them.
Describing Guru Ji as a great social reformer, Deputy Chief Minister said that throughout his life he preached love and brotherhood and worked for the upliftment of people especially poor and downtrodden. He said the life of Guru Ji is an epitome of struggle for the propagation of high values of humanism, quality and creation of society free from social evils and based on justice. Tara Chand said that for the welfare of people, the Government has formulated various developmental and welfare schemes adding that people should come forward to avail their benefits. He called for maintaining communal harmony and upholding the composite ethos of the State.
Earlier, Deputy CM lit the traditional lamp and paid floral tributes on the portrait of Guru Ji. Deputy CM was presented a memento by the organising committee on the occasion. Responding to the demands, Tara Chand announced Rs. 20 lakh for construction of dispensary building at Krishna Nagar. He said possibilities would be explored for renaming Jewel Chowk after the name of Guru Ravi Dass.
Among others, legislators, Bodh Raj and B. R. Kundal, former Minister, Ram Paul, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Mubarak Singh and thousands of people were present on the occasion. Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited Kashmiri Migrants Camp, Muthi to attend the function organized to celebrate Maag Purnima. Speaking on the occasion, Tara Chand said that the Government is fully aware of the problems being faced by Kashmiri Migrants adding that the Central and State Governments have initiated various steps for their rehabilitation. He said Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced an employment package for unemployed educated migrant youth, describing it a good sign of their return to their native places. Various deputations and individuals called on Tara Chand and apprised him about their problems. These include from village Mukwal, Hamitpur, Khour, Chowkichoura, Muthi, Srinagar and Leh.
