| Court dismisses bail application of Narco smuggler | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 30- Principal Sessions Judge Jammu BL Bhat dismissed the bail application of Narco smuggler Zahoor Ahmed who was allegedly involved in smuggling of Charas. The Public Prosecutor opposed the bail application on the ground that the accused is involved in a heinous offence as commercial quantity of charas weighing 4.30 KG has been recovered from his possession so he is not entitled for the bail. Principal Sessions Judge, after hearing both the sides, observed that the petitioner has been charge-sheeted u/s 20 NDPS Act which carries maximum punishment of 20 years imprisonment and Rs 2 lakh fine. The offence is non-bailable and there is no good ground to enlarge the accused to bail. On November 24, 2007 police party intercepted a Tata-Sumo at Jewel Chowk Jammu, and during checking, the petitioner was driving the vehicle while co-accused Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar was boarding as a passenger. A bag was found under the driving seat. During the search Charas about 4 KG was found in possession of the driver and in another bag in the possession of Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar,1 KG of Charas was found. During investigation both the accused revealed that contraband had been delivered by them to co-accused Ashok Kumar and Subash Singh. The accused were arrested and after completion of the investigation challan was presented in the Court of law. JNF
