1/31/2010 12:04:43 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Jan 30: Facing stiff opposition of their respective family members against their “friendship”, one Higher Secondary girl student along with a College student allegedly committed suicide after consuming some poisonous substance in their native village Dhandola in Billawar Tehsil of Kathua district, today.

Bodies of duo were found lying close by in a field, today morning. (Names withheld).

As per the reports, the ironic story leads to remote village of Dhandola where both the “love birds” had dreamt of maintaining a life-long relation. But due to disagreement between the family members, the duo took such a drastic step.

Speaking to Early Times, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, Gareeb Dass confirmed that “as per the preliminary investigation, it seems to be the case of love-affair which was being opposed by the family members of both the deceased who belonged to different castes.” He however, cleared that so far inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPc have been initiated to ascertain the fact.

The senior police officer detailed that today morning a phone call was received from some passerby that a body was lying in a field in Dhandola village. Following information a police team from police station Billawar rushed to the spot and found that there were two bodies including one of a girl and another of a youth lying amid crops.

After identifying the bodies, the parents were informed and bodies were shifted to Hospital for post-mortem. Later after conducting the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the parents for last rites.

Replying to a query, SSP, Kathua, Gareeb Dass said that “the police party is working on multiple theories. We will be collecting the call details of the mobile phones of deceased and will also inquire from the respective family members to ascertain if the duo was forced by some one to take such an extreme step.” (Names of deceased duo are withheld)
