5-day employment fair concludes at Udhampur
Cheques worth Rs.41 Lac distributed to 60 entrepreneurs

UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 31 (INFO)- With encouraging response from the public, the 5-Day Employment Fair at Udhampur concluded today where 1304 unemployed youth including women got their names registered for starting their self-employment income generating units under different schemes launched by the government. This included 119 registered under Horticulture Sector, 110 under Animal Husbandry, 62 in Agriculture, 75 under District Industries Centre, 85 under Khadi Village and Industries Board.
The Additional DDC Udhampur, Mr. Ram Rattan Sharma who was the chief guest on the occasion distributed cheques worth Rs.41 Lacs 60 beneficiaries sanctioned by the J&K Bank to beneficiaries under different schemes like SGSY, JKSES, KVIB, SJSRY and SCBC. The Cluster Head, J&K Bank Udhampur, Mr. G.M. Sadiq was also present in the function.
The Officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Handloom, DIC, KVIB made the public aware by giving detailed account of self-employment schemes of their respective departments, incentives and other para-meters required by the entrepreneurs in setting up their trades and income generating units.
The Deputy Director Employment and Counselling Centre, Udhampur, Mr. R.L. Raina while speaking on the occasion said that under Sher-I-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Scheme launched by the State Government recently, the interested youth between the age group of 28 to 37 years are eligible and loan amounting to Rs.5 Lac would be provided to beneficiary with out any guarantee to be effective from April 1, 2010. The Government would also provide Rs.500 to Rs.1100 per month to unemployed youth according to the qualification for rendering voluntary services.
The District Development Manager, NABARD, Mr. Rattan Lal asked Line Departments to provide project reports to beneficiaries for starting the income generating units of their choice and potential of the area and requested Bankers to extend their reach in rural and remote areas to provide loan assistance to farmers on easy terms by conducting joint field visits.
