| Farmers-Scientists meet held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 31: Under its ‘Village Visit Programme’ (VVP), Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted a visit of team of scientists at Dhansar village and its adjoining areas in Reasi district.
Farmers-Scientists meet was held at Bhaga village wherein the team members interacted with a number of villagers involved in farming.
In the meeting, Dr SHE Rizvi, Coordinator, apprised the farmers about the purpose and importance of VVP which is meant for the benefit of farming community.
On the occasion, farmers raised the issues of pest and disease related problems in cereal, vegetables, fruits and other crops and livestock health problems.
The Scientists also visited farmers’ field to have on the spot idea and solution thereof regarding the problems faced by them.
The other members of the team comprised of Dr Rajinder Dhar, Dr SP Devi, Dr Jagmohan, Dr SK Singh, Dr DK Dwivedi, Dr Dipanjali and field staff of Agriculture Department including Dr Susheel Sharma, RK Sharma and others.
Meanwhile, Water Management Research Centre of SKUAST-J under the project ‘Scaling UP of Water Productivity in Agriculture for Livelihood through Teaching-cum-Demonstration has organized a seven days farmers training programme from January 29 at village Dub (Taloor) Samba.
60 farmers, who are participating in the training programme, are being educated on water management aspects.
