EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jourian, Jan 31- Expressing grave concern over the repeated discrimination with the candidates belonging to Jammu, especially Hindus, in selections by the government agencies, BJP state President Shamsher Singh Manhas said that it is being done under a well planned conspiracy to make Jammu a ‘Hindu free zone’. If this policy is allowed to continue there will be hardly any educated Hindu in the Government departments, he said and called upon the people of Jammu, especially the youth, to get united in order to get what they deserve.

He was addressing a function organized at Jourian to pay homage to martyrs of “1953 Praja Parishad agitation.

On this occasion the BJP Chief along with Party MLA Ch. Shyam Lal and other leaders, garlanded the martyrs’ statues and presented shawls to the surviving members of their respective families. Pawan Singh, a youth who lost both of his eyes during the last year’s Amarnath land agitation was also honored on this occasion.

While remembering the great sacrifices of these martyrs, Manhas expressed surprise over the neglect of these nationalists who stood for the unity and integrity of the country. ‘Unfortunately the successive governments in the state have totally failed to look towards the families of all such martyrs, which is an insult of the nationalist people in the state’, he remarked.

Manhas charged the present Congress-NC coalition in the state and the Congress-led UPA at the centre of indulging in appeasement of a handful of people and ignoring all such forces which stand for complete integration of the state with rest of the country.

MLA Ch. Shyam Lal criticized the successive governments for their utter failure in granting citizenship rights to the refugees, who opted to settle in this part of the state at the time of partition.

Commenting on the Justice Sagheer Ahmed’s report on strengthening Centre-State relations, he said the report has stressed more on what the NC demands and least on permanent settlement of refugees and conducting delimitation in the state.

Other party leaders including Chaman Lal Kanathia, Suraj Padha, Manga, Singh, Daljit Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Aseem Gupta, Master Shiv Ram, Suraj Singh and Manmohan Singh also paid their tributes to the martyrs.
