2/1/2010 10:10:35 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 1
Demanding implementation of employment package announced by the Prime Minister in favour of displaced Kashmiri Pandits (KPs), Kashmiri Pandit Welfare Movement (KPWM) today staged protest outside Relief Commissioner Office here.
The protestors shouted slogans against the State Government and sought the intervention of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s intervention to ameliorate suffering of Kashmir. They demanded that the government should grant age relaxation of at least 10 years in employment package for Kashmir Pandits youth.
“Two more years have passed since the announcement by the Prime Minister with the result that nearly two thousand unemployed youth have become over aged for recruitment. The net result of this has been that nearly 30 per cent of the eligible unemployed can not apply for these posts notified recently by SSRB and need age relaxation,” they maintained.
He said, “we had raised this demand during the first Apex Body meeting on September 23, 2009 and subsequently in the meeting of Apex member with the Home Minister P Chidambarm at Jagti, Jammu and even State Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla, who is also the chairman of the Apex Body, had also categorically assured relaxation of age in the recruitment drive in view of the special circumstances in which it is taking place but nothing has happen so far in this connection.”
