| No welcome for CM in Shopian | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 1: The Majlis-e-Mushawarat, Shopian has called for `civil curfew’ on February 4 to protest what it called indifference of the government viz-a-viz investigation of rape and murder of two women. The Chief Minister is expected in the town on the said date in connection with board meeting. According to reports, a meeting of all civil society organizations was held in the town today with Majlis leaders in chair. The meeting expressed shock over Chief Minister’s failure to keep his promise. “He had promised stern action against the culprits. But till date nothing has been done by him. Omar, therefore, does not deserve any welcome by the Shopian people”, the Majlis president, Abdul Rashid Dalal said. Dalal urged the Shopian people to observe total strike on February 4 to protest Chief Minister’s arrival in the town. Dalal also said the government had not given permission to probe Shopian incident to International Peoples’ Tribunal for truth and Justice. “We had asked the government to give permission by February 1. But, it seems government is not interested in unveiling the truth”, he said. Dalal vowed to continue the struggle till justice was done to the people of Shopian.
