| JU Research Scholar attends international conference | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Feb 1 Poonam Sharma, a research scholar under the Guidance of Prof. Vijay Kumar Anand of Post graduate Department of Botany, University of Jammu attended an International conference on algae and 58th meeting of British Phycological Society (BPS) at center for Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa (CCAP), Scottish Marine Laboratory, Dunstaffnage Castle, Oban, Scotland.
The conference was organized by Scottish Association for Marine Sciences (SAMS) in collaboration with British Phycological Society (BPS). The main theme of the conference was the “Algal Biofuels: - recent trends and developments”.
Ms. Sharma presented her research paper entitled “studies on diversity of microalgae in Surinsar-Mansar wetland and its management and conservation strategies in the conference. Her talk on Mansar-surinsar wetland, which is a Ramsar wetland site of international importance, was highly appreciated by the delegates in the conference, attended by over 200 delegates from America, Australia, UK and other European Countries.
Ms. Poonam Sharma was the only delegate from India who attended the conference late last month which was sponsored by British Phycological Society. Ms. Sharma also attended a three day workshop on “current trends on algal research” at center for Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa, SAMS, Oban Scotland.
