| Jora inaugurates 5-Day Employment Fair at Kathua | | | Early Times Report Kathua February 1- Minister for Tourism, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, today inaugurated five day Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Package fair cum awareness Campaign at Kathua.
The employment fair was organised by Employment Department in collaboration with various Departments, which have put up stalls to acquaint the unemployed youth about the self employment schemes being offered under respective sectors.
Minister of State for Cooperative, Dr. Manhor Lal Sharma, Member Parliament Chowdhary Lal Singh, MLA Kathua, Mr. Charanjeet Singh and MLC Mr. Subash Chander Gupta were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the youth, Mr. Jora highlighted the salient features of the programme and said that under the Employment and Welfare package, the Government has taken various initiatives to explore new avenues for the job seeking youth.
The Minister said that Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for youth (SKEWPY) was a comprehensive and holistic programme to tackle unemployment. He said that 22 Rural Self- Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) would be opened in the State through Commercial Banks. He said with active participation of industry, the Government was converting 21 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) ‘into Centres of excellence’ at a cost of Rs. 67.50 crore, besides 18 Polytechnics are being set up in the State to impart professional training to the youth.
The Minister pointed out that the sole objective of getting education should not be to obtain Government Jobs, but it must also be taken as vital means to flourish one’s professionalism in private enterprises.
