DGP interacts with Kashmiri students
JKP keen to lend helping hand to under-privileged: Khoda

Jammu, February 02: A group of 33 children from Valley, studying in class 5th to 12th were felicitated by the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Kuldeep Khoda at a simple function held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here this morning. These children belonged to districts of Kupwara, Badgam and Anantnag,
The students were sent on an educational tour to various historical places of the country on December 14, 2009 by an NGO in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police. After completion of 52 days long tour they returned here today. During the tour, the students visited Pune, Mumbai, Nasik, Devrukh and Delhi.
The DGP lauded the efforts of the NGO for organizing such tours and taking care of the children, particularly from far-flung areas of the State. He assured that Jammu and Kashmir Police will make all efforts to support the NGOs working for such arocations. He stressed the need for identifying more such children in the State who could be provided assistance from Jammu and Kashmir Police. He said that Police Organization has always remained in the forefront to provide helping hand to under privilege.

Mr. Khoda advised the students to utilize the knowledge they gained during their tour in their future studies. He said that the children are our future and they have to take higher responsibilities in leading the nation.

During the interaction with the DGP, the students shared their experiences gained during the tour with regard to culture, languages, educational and developmental activities of the country and also presented a cultural programme.

Earlier, the Inspector General of Police (Armed), Mr. Dilbag Singh welcomed the children and gave detailed resume of the tour programme. He said these students would stay here for two days more and would visit various places in the city of temples, including airport, border areas of Suchetgarh, Bahu-Fort and other historical places.

Accompanying the children, Trustee of the NGO, Mr. Tanveer Ahmed thanked the DGP and IGP Armed for organizing the function.

Among others, the function was attended by Inspectors General of Police, Mr. S. Gopal Reddy, Mr. Ravinder Kotwal and Mr. Ashok Gupta, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Mr. T. Punchok, Mr. M. K. Sinha, and Mr. Danish Rana, AIGs, Mr. N.D. Wani, Mr. Ali Mohammad and other police officers.
