| People urged to visit Feb 6 Red Cross Mela | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, FEBRUARY 02 To make people aware about the principles and ideology of Red Cross movement and generate funds, Red Cross Mela is being organized on February 6 and 7, 2010 at Kala Kendra Jammu. Divulging the details of the mela at a press conference convened here this evening, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, who is also chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu maintained that the purpose of the annual festival is to educate general masses about the activities of Red Cross Society, help generate resources for Jammu Red Cross Society and is also an event to promote Red Cross movement. Apprising about the main attractions of the Red Cross Mela, Dr Kotwal said that number of NGO’s and government departments have been involved who would set up their stalls to offer specialized products. During the two day mela, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages would present cultural programme while Big 92.7 FM has short listed young voices of which first three would be awarded. Various educational institutions participating in the mela would set up food stalls besides joy rides and magic show.
Raffle draw has also been organized on February 7. Winners and sponsors of various competitions organized during mela days would be awarded in a separate function at Raj Bhawan. Dr Kotwal appealed to the citizens of Jammu to participate in large numbers in the mela to make it a success and help the Red Cross Society in generating funds for the needy and sufferers.
