| SAVE ME PLEASE | | Photo expo on Gharana wetland , cries for attention preservation | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 2: One day long Guldev Raj 's Photo Exhibition on Gharana "SAVE ME PLEASE organized by The Udaan incollaboration with J&K Academy of Art, culture and languages was held today in which 80 Pictures of different angle were displayed in Gellary of Kala Kendra and its premises. The main aim behind organizing the exhibition was to aware the general masses and drew the attention of Govt. to protect the birds land named Gharana wetland and local farmers. The exhibition was witnessed by large numbers of gathering and gave their valuable suggestion how to protect this Wetland, which is in trouble these days. People also appreciated the work of Guldev Raj, A birds lover man, done in odd circumstances and has presented before the public in a beautiful way. Guldev Raj who is studying on birds of J&K,has also found new bird specie SPOON BILL at Gharana Wetland on 28th Nov 2009, This is the first time when spoon bills were seen at this wetland. During the Exhibition general masses were given brief history of Gharana Wetland where migratory birds like Bar headed goose, Pin Tails. Ruddy shelducks, Black Storks,Northern shovelers, Mallards, Common teals, Gadwalls, herons, painted storks, sandpipers, etc come every winter. But this wetland is shrinking fastly. Govt should come forward to protect the Gharana wetland with the help of Local farmers, these were the words of visiting people. Balwan Singh, Secretary of Exhibition organizing Committee said that Govt. should involve farmers in Gharana wetland Development Programme. Large number of people including children visited during exhibition
