Jammu, Feb 02: A workshop on folk dance of Jammu region under the guidance of eminent Dogri writer and theatrist Shamlal Raina was organized by Natraj Natya Kunj at Ranglok studio, Bakshi Nagar here today.
Raina on the occasion gave instruction to the students how to perform Dogri folk dance, like Haran, Jatar, Bhagtan, Geetru, Dehku, Jagrana, Chajja, Guggel and Dandaras. He said contemporary problems should be given to rituals and traditions. He urged that the artists should wear attractive traditional folk dresses so to give proper justice.
The workshop is being managed by Isha Taggar and Neeraj Sharma. Among the artists Gharu Ram, Mukesh Chalotra, Mukesh Bakshi, Aaditya Bharti, Raj Kumar, Niharika Sakshi, Shivani Sharma, Divjot Deol, Preeti Sharma, Rhythem Bassan, Pooja Angral, Kuldeep Kour, Roopali Sharma, Rohit Sawhney, Gagandeep Sharma, Arjun Sharma also attended the workshop. They discussed about the costumes, ornaments and folk instruments being used in these folk dances.
