EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 3 Former president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and MLA Jammu East, Ashok Khajuria along with senior officials of the district administration reviewed ongoing works for laying the sewerage pipes in Lakhdatta Bazar, Rajinder Bazar, Talab Khateekan and Mohalla Dalpatian localities in ward number 5 of the constituency. Khajuria was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Satish Chander Sahn, BJP district president Rajesh Gupta and senior officials of NBCC, ERA, UEED and PHE departments. The BJP leader said that he had been receiving repeated complaints against the NBCC and ERA for not carrying out the work to the satisfaction of the people, adding that during the inspection of some spots, it has been observed that the work for sewerage purposes is on snail’s pace as a result of which public is made to suffer. He also took the ERA authorities to task for laying the water pipes inside the gutters at the tail ends of the pipes laid by NBCC for disposal of sewerage wastages, which is in total violation of the standing instructions in this regard. He alleged that the water pipes can not be laid in the large dimension pipes meant for sewerage purposes. The Additional Deputy Commissioner also expressed his serious concern over the violation of the norms and directed the concerned authorities to immediately stop this work and proceed as per the directions. Ashok Khajuria also announced that a water cooler would be installed in Talab Khateekan before the summer season for the convenience of the people.
