Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 3: A group of 18 elders from the remote and far-flung areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts, back from their national integration tour to various places of historical and monumental importance in the country, met the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan, here today and shared with him the rich experiences of their visit. During their 10-day tour, organized by the Army’s 38 Rashtriya Rifles, the touring group from Sangiot, Lah, Kablan Gala, Gambir Mughlan, Kalaban, Rajdhani, Shahdara Sharief, Kopra and other difficult areas of the districts of Rajouri and Poonch, visited Jammu, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Ajmer. The tour, flagged-off from Jammu on January 25, will conclude today. In Delhi, this group of persons ranging from 35 to 70 years of age, witnessed the Republic Day parade, had a Metro ride and visited Jama Masjid, India Gate, Chandni Chowk, Qutab Minar and the local Malls. They called on the President, Pratibha Patil, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The group also met the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and had tea with him. Interacting with the group, the Governor enquired from them their impressions of the places they had visited and the experiences they had gained during the tour. The Governor wished them good health, happiness and prosperity and urged them to remain steadfast in their resolve to combat militancy and restore their areas to normalcy
