| 1-day Industrialists Conference | | Slathia for making vibrant, sustainable industrial state | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 3: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Surjit Singh Slathia, today exhorted upon the industrialists and entrepreneurs to extend their full cooperation for making Jammu and Kashmir a vibrant and sustainable industrial state. Addressing officers of various Corporations and Industrial unit holders at a one day conference organized by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Jammu, the Minister said the Government was keen to extend every possible assistance/help for the purpose. Slathia maintained that for the encouragement of entrepreneurs various subsidies, under the Centre and State Industrial Policy are available which can be availed without any bottlenecks. Dispelling the fears of any discouragement to the outsiders who are keen to set up their industrial units in the State, the Minister assured that being a facilitator, the Government will not lag behind in encouraging investors from outside the State and also urged upon the locals to extend their cooperation to such people in establishment of their units in the State. He also enjoined upon the industrialists to maintain the per day wages of Rs.110 fixed by the Government for workers. Presidents of Industrial Estates and other associations of Gangyal, Bari Brahmina, Kathua, Birpur and Samba projected various demands for early redressal, which, interalia, include central package of incentives. Responding to the demands, the Minister assured that a meeting with the noted industrialist would be convened shortly to sort out various issues amicably. He said the Government has already taken up the issue of ban on export of scrap from the State with the Central Government and the response is still awaited.
