| Ajje Da Sikander marks finale of drama festival | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 3: On the concluding day of the on going fortnight long Annual Drama Festival Samooh Theatre presented its Dogri play Ajje Da Sikander. Written by Dr. Om Goswami the play was directed by Ravinder Sharma while Vijay Goswami composed music for it. Costume designing was taken care of by Krishan Bala The play focused on the degrading status of literary publications and the attendant ramifications of it on literature. Through theatrical performance the play projected the chaos and deceit that we find in some segments of the present day literature. Ajje Da Sikander in an artistic style brought to the fore the fact that the earlier literature and litterateurs were sincere and dedicated to the cause of promotion of quality writing while most of the contemporary writers had deviated from the path. Samooh’s production in a way presented before the audience the element of confusion and dichotomy that had set in, in literature in recent times. The innate human weakness of winning name and fame and acquiring wealth come what may was the basic focal point of the whole play. The play being a master piece of literary tradition was presented on stage by budding as well as seasoned artists. Those who worked in it included Rajesh Dogra, Vikram Khatri, Lucky Gupta, Renu Malhotra, Joginder Bhasin, Neha Parihar, Saki Shah Saki and Ravinder Sharma. During today’s function Ajay Khujaria, Director Agriculture Jammu was the chief guest. Speaking on the sidelines of the event Khajuria appreciated the efforts of the Cultural Academy in promoting art and culture in the state. From Academy’s side Secretary Academy Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Additional Secretary Jammu, Savita Bakshi and many others attended the culminating event. Speaking on the occasion Secretary Cultural Academy Zafar Iqbal Manhas said that it was because of media’s continued support that the Academy’s programmes were getting good response from the general public. At the end of today’s play Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy Jammu, Savita Bakshi presented the vote of thanks on behalf of the Cultural Academy which had organised the event. The programme proceedings were conducted by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan.
