2/3/2010 10:29:56 PM

Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 3: The Hurriyat chairman, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has called for a peaceful march on February 8 to UN Military Observer’s Group (UNMOG) at Sonawar.
Umer Farooq today said that the International Community has to be apprised of the alarming increase in human rights abuses in Kashmir. “This shall be done through a peaceful march to UN Military Observer’s office at Sonawar on February 8”, he said.
Mirwaiz said the government had given a free hand to its armed forces. “A situation is deliberately created in Kashmir where violence becomes inevitable”, he said.
Giving details, Mirwaiz said seven innocent civilians have been killed during the month of January. “Sopore witnessed massive repression and several residential houses were set ablaze. Property worth crores has been destroyed”, he said.
The police have foiled every attempt of the Hurriyat leaders aimed at involving the masses. During the past two years five intended marches to Lal Chowk were foiled by the police.
