Jammu, Feb 4: The Jammu Municipal Corporation, (JMC) in its drive against the adulteration in food items, an intensive checking of the food articles was undertaken by a team of food inspectors led by its health officer visit areas of kanji house, Jewel, below Gumat, canal road, Sanjay Nagar, Rehari colony, Pacca Danga etc. During the drive about 68 food establishments of Halwai shops, dhabas, whole/retail fish sellers, restaurants, fruit juice corner, Karyana, provision stores, sweet shops etc were checked. 15 nos of cases were booked under the provision of various municipal corporation act. About of 40kg of unwholesome sweetmeats kept for sale was destroyed. An amout of Rs 4200/- was realized as fine on spot from the defaulters. The shopkeepers dealing with food articles were asked to ensure supply of pure and fresh food articles to the general public and also keep their premises neat and clean failing which they shall be dealt under law.
