| Inter college patriotic song competition held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 4: To commemorate ‘Martyrs Day’ an inter-college patriotic group song and bhajan competition was organized by Gandhian studies centre at government MAM College here today. Director Colleges, Dr. N D Wani presided over the function. The function commenced with an E-exhibition on ‘Life on Teachings of Gandhi’ while principal of the college, Prof. M S Baloria in his welcome address exhorted that the teachings of Gandhi need to be carefully deliberated upon to suit the modern day requirement. He asserted that Gandhi dreamt of an India where all people would have equal rights and his preaching are the secret of pure and quality life. Wani in his address threw light on the Gandhian philosophy and emphasized that the gospels of truth, non-violence, justice and brotherhood as preached by Gandhi are relevant issues today as never before. He exhorted the student community to imbibe these values for a bright and harmonious future, state president, Gandhi Global family S P Verma enlightened the students on Gandhian philosophy and advised them to give a practical shape to his teachings. Dr. Twinkle Suri, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre coordinated the programme and presented the activity of the centre. Hari Lal, an active volunteer of the centre deliberated upon the Gandhian principles. Tanvi Bhargav compered the programme. The panel of judges included Deepali Wattal from the institute of fine arts, John Masiah and Ved Prakash Ji. The students provided a scintillating performance in group songs and bhajans. The first, second and third prizes were bagged by government college for women, Gandhi Nagar respectively.
