| Symposium on ‘Environmental Protection’ held | | | Sarita Jamwal EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Feb 4
District Information Centre, Udhampur today organised a symposium on “Environmental Protection” in the premises Government Girls City Middle School, Udhampur, in which 10 students of the school participated. Mamta of Class 7th clinched first position while Neena and Shraya Sharma, both of Class 8th, bagged second and third positions respectively in the contest. Two consolation prizes were also given. The participants were awarded prizes and certificates of merit. Speaking on the occasion, the Headmaster of the School Tara Nath lauded the efforts of J&K Information Department in organizing the event of great importance in his school. The contest has enabled the students to expose their talent on a common platform which would help in building self-confidence amongst them. He urged for more such programmes in educational institutions for general awareness of youngsters about the need of environmental protection. The Artists of District Information Centre, Udhampur and students also presented a scintillating cultural programme on the occasion which was highly appreciated by the audience.
