| Fulfill demands or face agitation; PHE employees to govt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 4
Hundreds of Public Health Engineering (PHE) employees, accusing the minister concerned of failing to fulfill his commitment being made with them, today staged protest at PHE Complex, BC road and threatened to go on tool down strike if their demands are not met till February 15. Under the banner of PHE Employees United Front, Jammu province, the Employees raised slogans in support of their demands and alleged that the Minister for PHE, Taj-Mohi-ud-Din has backtracked from his commitment made on July 14, 2009. “The Government should implement the agreement in principle made with the Minister for PHE/Irrigation and Flood Control Department during the negotiation with the employees’ representatives on July 14, 2009,” they said. They demanded that the written agreement including enhanced wages at the rate of Rs 110 per day, release of one and half days remaining pay, technical grades for PHE Employees as per SRO -149 of 1973, the existing left out cadres / designation which were clubbed with the sanction posted of SRO-59 be confirmed and regularization of workers who have completed seven years tenure, new vehicles against the old one be purchased and transfer of Class IV employees be made from one section to other, be implemented in letter and spirit. They expressed resentment against the “indifferent” attitude of the Minister concerned for not fulfilling his commitments which were made with the PHE employees six months ago. Bakshi Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Swaran Singh, Subash Chander Verma, Vinod Sharma and Vijay Luthra addressed the protestors.
