| BJP’s protest march against price hike on Feb 9 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 4
Accusing the Central and State Governments of failing to control the prices of essential commodities, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced that its activists would take out a massive protest rally in the city on February 9 to pressurize the governments for taking concrete measures to check inflation. Addressing his maiden press conference after being elected as district president of Jammu, Rajesh Gupta alleged that the ruling dispensations in the State and Centre have been pursuing anti-poor and anti-people policies. “It has failed to check the prices of essential commodities which have gone out of reach from common man,” he alleged. “In the wake of sky-rocketing prices of food items and other products, it has become difficult for common man to manage two times meal for his family in a day,” he charged. The BJP leader made a fervent appeal to all sections of the society, irrespective of their caste, creed, colour or political affiliations to participate in the purposed protest rally so that common man gets some relief from inflation. He also announced the names of its district unit office bearers. He nominated Krishan Lal Gupta, Vikram Randhawa, Sureshta Jamwal and Sanjeev Gupta as vice-presidents, Jaideep Sharma as general secretary, Mohan Singh Rana, organization secretary, Sangeeta Gupta, Balwan singh, Ashwani Sharma and Sanjay Mahajan as secretaries, Ramesh Sharma as treasurer, Surinder Pargal, spokesperson, Parshant Puri, office secretary, Dalip Gupta, press Secretary, Ayodhya Kumar as Media Incharge, Rakesh Mishra, publicity in charge and Surinder Mahajan, joint secretary. Addressing the new office bearers, Gupta said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir was different from other parts of the country and the role of nationalist people in the state is important in view of such developments and the BJP has been continuously working to strengthen the national forces in order to boost their morale and encourage standing firmly against all anti-national elements. He declared announced that the newly constituted district unit of BJP would undertake a number of programmes in the coming days against the anti-people and anti-poor policies of the government.
