BJP holds UPA responsible for ongoing turmoil in valley
2/4/2010 11:55:33 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu Feb 4
BJP state President Shamsher Singh Manhas has expressed grave concern over the prevailing precarious situation in the valley and said that the present situation is the direct outcome of the wool-headed and hasty decisions of the Congress-led UPA at the centre. Expressing anguish on the sufferings of the common man in the valley at the hands of anti-national elements, who have now honed new technique of professionalizing stone throwing and replaced the gun with it, he said the militancy in the valley started initially with the present day type of agitations and stone throwing etc. and finally ended in gun culture. BJP leader said that the same has been facilitated and encouraged by the decision of the Union government to reduce the level of the security forces in the state to please the PDP and the NC, which have all along worked to keep the valley destabilize and demoralize the security forces on one pretext or the other.
Expressing sympathies with suffering public, including S Jaipal Singh, whose shop has been looted in Kupwara, he said the situation in Kashmir has gone worst and it has reminded of the situation prevailing in early 90s when militancy erupted in the State. He said that it is the result of the appeasement policies of the Congress-led UPA adding that whenever the Congress and NC have joined hands in the state, anti-social and anti-national elements have received boost in carrying out their activities.
Manhas demanded the effected areas, especially Kupwara, be immediately handed over to the army with a free hand to tackle the violent mobs which are threatening life and property of the nationalist people. He also urged upon the state Governor to intervene in order to ensure the security of the law abiding citizen in the valley.
